Easiest Free Book Giveaway EVER!!!

A couple of months ago, I did a free book giveaway, and it was so much fun, I wanted to do it again.  I want to make it as simple and as fun as possible.  So here it goes:

(1) The book: Yankee Doodle Dixie by Lisa Patton (ARC edition).

(2) The giveaway date: February 20, 2012, one month from today.

(3) To enter: comment below this post with your first name and, as concisely as you wish, why you love reading and want this book.

(4)  The drawing: will be held on February 20, 2012, and will be conducted through the very scientific method of your names being placed on pieces of paper in a hat, and my 6-year-old son picking one of those names.

(5) The winner: will be announced February 20th, and I will mail you your book.  I will even cover the shipping (if you are in the United States).

It’s as simple as that!  What could be more fun?

Good luck!  I look forward to hearing from you!!!

  1. I absolutely love reading and the hubby has put me on a book buying ban…so winning this book would allow me to continue my favorite hobby 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to do this giveaway 🙂

    • Hubby put you on a book budget??? Bummer, dude (though that sounds like something my wife would do). You can never have too many books, and free books are the BEST! She might try to put me on a free book giveaway ban, but until she does, I’m going to keep these coming!!!

  2. Reading is an enriching and rewarding experience wherein I can see and learn things I may never be experiencing in real life.

    • So true. My favorite thing about books (though it is hard to pick just one) is the chance they give you to escape, or live vicariously through the characters (sometimes “doing” things you otherwise wouldn’t/couldn’t do).

  3. I love the south and southern gals are charmers. Reading books is a lost art. Any time you can sit down and cosy up to a good book is like heaven in a blanket.

    • Reading books is SO a lost art! But we here at Dunce Academy are trying to bring it back.

Totally agree re: “southern gals.” The first time I ever really heard a Southern accent was from this waitress while driving through Georgia. The way she said “what can I get for you?” almost melted my heart. Awesome!

  4. Reading is the gateway to worlds beyond worlds! Without reading, my life would become limp and unhealthy. With reading, I am a vital force, ever growing a becoming more valuable and vital. Thank you for your giving spirit. My students win every time I win.

  5. I love reading for the same reason I love writing. It allows me to explore other worlds, lives, loves, and ways. It’s fun to live in someone else’s shoes every now and then–and it expands our way of thinking. 🙂

  6. i love to read and enter book giveaways. Each new book takes you away to a new world for the time being. After I read a book I like to pass it along to someone else that will enjoy it to.

  7. I have recently discovered that it genuinely IS an escape for me (especially at this time in my life). Words are powerful. I love it when I read a book and can find that it adds some kind of perspective to my life. (looks like you guys are getting quite the following here, very cool!)

      • Hey there! I’ve been here 🙂 I say this time in my life, because things have been a little….stressful lately. But in the meantime I have managed to read quite a few books and it has been such a great “escape” (not to sound too cliche). I especially love when I read a book that adds some good to my life, but I also enjoy plain entertainment as well. I actually just picked up “The Noonday Demon” that Dunce One wrote about a while ago. It was a lot thicker than I was expecting and I haven’t gotten terribly far in it, but it is pretty interesting. I have often come to this blog to look for suggestions of books to read. I just want to learn 🙂

*by the way, did Dunce One have a stint in the old Shawnee ward at some point?*

  8. Reading is a great way for me to getaway and get some “me” time. Im a full time student, mother, and employee. I would love to curl up with this book and let my imagination take over. Thanks for such an awesome giveaway!!!

  9. Hi! I would love this book. I have been reading since I was a little girl. I was always carrying a book around and now my daughter does the same thing. I love new material and this book would be great! Thanks!

  10. Gosh there are really a lot of reasons I love to read: for the travel (visiting the author’s imaginary world) for information, for escape, for comfort, for stress relief and for pure fun. I want this one because I love books set in the South–they always have great characters!

  12. I have always loved reading and get really caught up in the stories I read, or enthused about new things or places I learn about. I have always encouraged my kids and kids at school – I was the volunteer “reading lady” – telling them that reading can take them anywhere and let them be anything or anyone. Reading has always been a passion for me and I would love to win this book!

  13. I love reading because it takes me into another world. It’s a very stress free activity and I always feel better when I’ve gotten in a few chapters of a good book. I’ve heard great things about this one so I’d love the opportunity to win it! Thanks for the giveaway. 🙂
